Provide comfort and care, financial assistance, mental health support, and housing as needed
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely response to disasters and assist those affected
- Respond to disaster scenes as assigned by Senior Responder within two hours
- Meet the needs of those affected by disasters such as the need for shelter and food by providing Red Cross Services
- Complete forms related to services provided
- Provide referrals to other agencies
- Communicate to Team Lead about availability and readiness on a regular basis.
- Initiate response to disasters during their time shift or in their territory
- Submit appropriate, accurate, and timely reports as required.
- Apply policies, regulations, and procedures.
Time Commitment:
Choose your availability on a rotation schedule.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to mission of the American Red Cross
- Be able to follow chapter/region guidance and current Red Cross disaster guidance
- Have transportation to get to DAT response sites and be willing to drive several miles to respond
- Actively participate in program activities to maintain proficiency, including meetings, training,
- exercises and drills
- Proficiency with computers and smartphone apps.
Relationships:
Work with the Disaster Services Workforce in the chapter including other Disaster Responders and the Disaster Action Team Lead.
Length of Appointment:
Once trained may remain active as long as required training is updated. DAT membership will be evaluated and renewed yearly based on performance.
