This position is great for those that enjoy educating others and public speaking. Former teachers, coaches, education students, pastors, group leaders, etc. In your role, you will learn our Community Education Presentations for the programs below, and teach members of the public how to prepare.
- Wildfire Prevention- including a walk-around their home to determine any risks
- Home Fire Prevention- including free smoke alarm installations and in-home walk through to determine any risk factors for home fires, and a 2-minute evacuation drill/plan.
- "Be Red Cross Ready" - a program that teaches the public to make a kit, get informed and be ready to respond/evacuate when needed.
- "Ready Rating" - a program for businesses. We teach them to prepare their business for disasters, and this can result in lowering insurance costs.
- "Prepare With Pedro" - a program for students in Kindergarten through Second Grade that teaches them how to prepare for various disasters (home fires and hurricanes, tsunamis etc.), make an evacuation kit, and practice a 2-minute evacuation drill at home. We also teach them deep breathing exercises so that they learn how to remain calm and respond instead of panic.
Presentations are scheduled in the community based on their needs, but are scheduled in advance. They generally take 1-2hrs, and you'll have a team member with you so you're not alone.
