Maui Friends of the Library always needs help in our used bookstores! They are located at three different locations. Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in Kahului; on Lipoa Street in Kihei; and in Pu'unene (Past the old sugar mill and behind the school administration building.)
Volunteers may choose their duties. These may include the following:
- Operate a simple cash register
- Put books on shelves and keep things tidy
- Assist shoppers in finding books on the shelves
We are an all-volunteer organization founded to promote and assist Maui libraries. Our greatest fundraising efforts are based on the operation of these used bookstores. We take donations of pre-loved books, CDs and DVDs, and sell them at reasonable prices -- with all proceeds going to the needs of our local libraries! It's a win-win: great prices on media for the community, and much-needed funding for each library branch in Maui County.
The funds we provide for our Maui libraries will be ESPECIALLY needed this year, as libraries and museums face deep funding cuts from federal sources!!
