Keālia Pond is a wetland sanctuary, home for many native and endemic species like the endangered ae‘o (Hawaiian stilt) and ‘alae ke‘oke‘o (Hawaiian coot), providing nesting, feeding and resting habitat. Participants will be contributing to habitat restoration work, protecting and enhancing the refuge’s native plant community. Volunteers will usually work alongside refuge staff to outplant and care for native plant species and remove invasive plants.

Important Gear: Reusable water bottle, hat, long pants, close-toed shoes, sunscreen.
