Join the Aloha Kai Safety Ambassadors and make a direct difference in ocean safety on Maui.
Volunteers will engage with visitors at Nāpili and Kapalua Bays, sharing important information about the risks of entering the ocean at unguarded beaches during high-risk surf conditions.
Following training on August 10, 2026, with Maui Fire Department Ocean Safety personnel, volunteers will be notified in advance when large swells are expected and assistance is needed to educate visitors. Participation is flexible—if you are unavailable on a particular day, that is completely fine. Volunteers are generally needed approximately one to three days per month.
Sun shirts and caps will be provided on your first day of volunteering.
This is a meaningful opportunity to serve your community, promote visitor safety, and help share the aloha spirit through education and prevention.
