National Make a Difference Day is Saturday, October 28th, a day when many hands will make light work of feeding hungry families this year at Hāli'imaile Community Garden. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are invited for a one day project to till, amend, fertilize, and replant the Goodwill Gardens, a dedicated space where produce is grown for the garden's partner organizations who distribute fresh produce to Maui's hungry. The 3 hour long event beings at 11 am and includes lunch/snacks.
Afterwards volunteers will be invited to stay for the garden's cooking workshop from 2 - 3 pm where they will tour the garden's chayote squash field, discuss growing and using chayote squash, sample recipes, and have the opportunity take home a squash and view the garden's cookbook.
