Malama Maui Nui administers several County-wide recycling programs that deal with household hazardous waste. These programs ensure that people have a safe place to properly dispose of their unwanted materials, of which many can be repurposed into new and useful things.
Volunteers can help prepare these materials for the next step in their recycling journey. Baseyard Volunteer Workday are on the second Saturday of the month from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the MMN Baseyard in Pu’unene. Volunteers will focus on the Household Batteries Recycling and Paint Exchange programs. These programs divert reusable materials from the landfill and prevent harmful chemicals from leaching into the environment.
Contact Malama Maui Nui for more info on the tasks involved, and to reserve your spot: volunteer@cwdhawaii.org or 877-2524.
