Who We Are
The Wave of Harmony Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives through the performing arts. Rooted in the belief that the arts are a powerful tool for personal and community growth, we are committed to making these experiences accessible to all.
Our mission is to empower youth through performing arts education by providing them with opportunities to explore their talents, connect with their heritage, and uplift their communities. Founded with a passion for the arts and a promise to "pay it forward". Through inclusive programs and community partnerships we create pathways for individuals from all walks of life to experience the transformative power of the arts. We are a collective of artists, educators, cultural leaders, and community members who believe in the importance of nurturing creativity, preserving tradition, and building a thriving performing arts industry on Maui. Together, we are shaping a future where the arts are a cornerstone of community connection, cultural pride, and social impact.
What We Do
The Wave of Harmony Foundation (WHF) accomplishes its mission through a variety of impactful programs and initiatives that focus on accessibility, empowerment, and community engagement in the performing arts. Here’s how WHF achieves its goals:
Youth Empowerment Programs: WHF support arts education and performance opportunities for young people across Maui. These programs offer workshops, mentorship, and hands-on experience in theatre, music, and dance, empowering youth to explore their talents and build confidence.
PlusOneTicket Program: Through the PlusOneTicket initiative, WHF makes the arts accessible by providing free or subsidized tickets to performances for underserved communities, ensuring that no one is excluded from experiencing the joy of live theatre and cultural events.
Cultural Preservation Efforts: WHF is deeply committed to preserving and celebrating Hawaii’s rich cultural heritage. By partnering with local artists, kumu hula, and cultural leaders, we create programs that highlight traditional Hawaiian performing arts.
Community Partnerships: WHF collaborates with schools, other nonprofit organizations, and local performing arts venues to foster a supportive network that expands access to arts education and cultural experiences. These partnerships help us reach a broader audience and deliver high-quality arts programming across the island.
Kupuna Engagement: Honoring the wisdom and contributions of Hawaii’s elders, WHF actively involves kupuna in our programs. We ensure that their voices and stories are shared, creating intergenerational connections that strengthen the community’s bond with its cultural past.
Creative Expression and Innovation: WHF encourages innovation and creativity by supporting new works and performances that reflect the diverse voices of the community. This includes producing original Hawaiian theatre and music that resonate with both local and global audiences.
Accessibility: Our commitment to making the arts accessible extends beyond financial assistance. WHF designs inclusive programs that welcome individuals from all walks of life, regardless of physical, social, or economic barriers.
By focusing on these core areas, WHF not only creates opportunities for artistic expression and personal growth but also ensures that the performing arts continue to thrive as a source of inspiration, cultural pride, and unity across Maui.
