Opportunities From: HandsOn Maui

This outreach provides a meaningful opportunity to connect with our guests and foster fellowship within a two-hour timeframe.

Activities may include

1) Organizing and distributing donations.

2) Maintaining  & Organization on-site supplies and systems.

3) Assisting with wellness checks.

4) Supporting resource navigation and referral programs.

5) Other support services as needed.

Are you looking to do something positive during these tough times? We need volunteers to help us provide a little bit of dignity and kindness to our unsheltered community via our mobile hygiene trailer.

Maui Rescue Mission is a mobile resource center for those in our community who are struggling with homelessness. We provide free laundry service, private hot showers, hygiene and first aid items, clothing, connections to other resources such as food, shelter, medical insurance and medical appointments, detox and rehab, ID replacement, etc.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

1) Guest check-in (Manning our check-in table. Signing guests in, letting them know when it's there turn and handing out towels and hygiene items as needed.)

2) Laundry room team (Keeping up with the washing, drying and folding of guests laundry as wells as tidying up the laundry room at the end of outreach.)

3) Bathroom disinfecting team (Bathrooms are disinfected after each guest. Volunteers on this team will assist with this task using the provided cleaning supplies. Gloves and masks are provided.)

4) Resource help (folks with computer and good problem solving skills to help our guests with applying for benefits, acquiring ID, navigating EBT issues and more.)

5) Sharing Aloha (the most important thing our volunteers do is talk story and develop relationships with our guests. Relationships and trust is what allows us to to come alongside those we serve and give them a hand up from their struggles.)

This opportunity will be delegated by the Leadership team to assist with specific tasks that are not part of the regular outreach. This could include, but is not limited to, support admin work, hanging and maintaining signage, sorting through donations or maintenance, cleaning, and organizing tasks to support the outreach team's efforts while keeping everything running efficiently. Times are more flexible and are not necessarily the same time as an outreach that is pre-scheduled.
