Volunteer Opportunity: Climate Action Advisory Committee (Virtual – Meets Every Second Wednesday on Zoom)

The Climate Action Advisory Committee of the Teran James Young Foundation is seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about advancing climate solutions for Maui. 

Volunteers please commit to meeting every second wednesday on on zoom**

This committee meets every second Wednesday on Zoom and serves as a collaborative working group focused on practical, community-driven climate action. We are currently looking for volunteers with knowledge or experience in:

Renewable energy

Sustainability practices

Regenerative agriculture

Climate policy or environmental advocacy

Community resilience planning

Volunteers will contribute insight, research, strategy, and collaborative problem-solving to help guide initiatives that support Maui’s transition to a more sustainable and resilient future.

If you care deeply about protecting our ʻāina and want to apply your skills in service to meaningful climate action, we invite you to join us.

Together, we can help create lasting environmental solutions rooted in community and stewardship.

Maluhia Mediation Volunteer Mediators What we need help with: Conduct mediation sessions (solo or with a co-mediator) to help disputants resolve conflicts using the NVC mediation process Marketing and promotion Testimonials and feedback Training & Other Requirements Complete NVC meditation basics training Attend NVC mediation practice groups Get certified by TJYF staff

Hale Pono Youth Shelter 

Assist shelter staff in supporting youth with 

daily tasks recreational and educational activities Meal preparation schoolwork Transportation of youth to activities Lead activities based on volunteer’s expertise Front desk Reception Greet and assist Incoming calls and visitors Coordinate resources for youth (set appointments, etc.) When & Where Needed (Scheduling) 24/7 possibilities, since the shelter is always open

Every week the Teran James Young Foundation hosts two free programs over Zoom: Practicing Peace and Maluhia Mediation. We are seeking volunteers to attend the programs and write a testimonial based on your experience and email it to info@teranjy.org.

Join us for Maluhia Mediation and Practicing Peace weekly on Zoom; bring us your conflicts and learn to use them as an opportunity to connect and deepen your relationships! Together we will tune into our underlying needs and feelings to work through our conflicts, both past and present, with empathy and compassion. 

Maluhia Mediation occurs every Friday from 3:30-6:00 pm (HST) over Zoom.

Practicing Peace occurs ever Thursday from 12:00-1:30 pm (HST) over Zoom.
