On Saturday, October 21st from 8am-12pm Grow Some Good will host an island-wide school garden workday which will include multiple schools across Maui. The event aims to create awareness of the importance and impact of school garden programming and to provide much needed love and maintenance to our school gardens.
Community members from all walks of life will be encouraged to get involved at their nearest school garden to give four hours of service to helping maintain and beautify the gardens. Tasks may include weeding, planting, light building types of projects, depending on what the specific school garden needs. There should be something for all skill and physical-ability levels.
By bringing together local businesses, parents, teachers, school administrators, garden coordinators, and other community volunteers, we build relationships within our community while adding strength and resiliency to garden programming across Maui. Through increasing awareness of the benefits that school gardens offer to our keiki and community, we create strong and lasting bonds to these programs.
