Description

The Instructor will deliver basic and advanced disaster courses and simulations to support capacity building and disaster worker development. 

Responsibilities:

- Facilitating basic-level Disaster Cycle Services courses, exercises and simulations.

- All basic instructors must be approved by their affiliated region and meet the instructor requirements described in the course fact sheets.

- In the Pacific Islands region, to maintain certification Basic Instructors must teach at least 2 Disaster Cycle Services training courses annually.

 Qualifications

- At least one-year volunteer experience ARC Disaster Cycle Services

or

-Deployment experience on at least 2-chapter level or higher operations.

- submission of Disaster Basic Instructor Application

- submission of Disaster Basic Instructor Self-Assessment

- submission of Disaster Instructor Development Plan

- Review of Application by regional DSC Leadership

- Completion of required training

- Appointment to review application packet with Regional Training Coordinator

- Appointment as Disaster Basic Instructor

 

Training

- completion of Basic Instructor Fundamentals, an online SABA LMS training course

- completion of Basic Instructor Specialty Training, an instructor-led training course

Instructor/Facilitator assignments include the following:

  • Disaster Basic Instructor
  • Disaster Advanced Instructor
  • Disaster Course Simulation Facilitator
  • Virtual Instructor Led Training Instructor
  • Virtual Instructor Specialty Training Instructor
  • Youth Preparedness Presenter 

Requirements for these positions are listed in the Disaster Instructor Training Toolkit. Instructor must take the training associated with the level of course(s) they will be teaching. Meet the instructor requirement as indicated in the course fact sheet. Instructor can advance from a basic instructor to a simulation facilitator to an advanced instructor. Some instructors can be volunteer regional training leads.
