Who We Are
Friends of the Maui County Library dba Maui Friends of the Library is a 501(c) 3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Our mission is to assist and enhance educational and literacy services to our Maui County communities through support of our libraries and library services.
We receive donated items from the community (books, DVD's, and CD's) and sell them at our bookstores to raise funds to support Maui's eight Public Libraries and the Holoholo Bookmobile.
We provide funding for library materials and equipment, sponsor library programs and offer scholarships to Maui students pursuing a degree in Library Science.
What We Do
We operate three used bookstores, selling donated books, DVD's and CD's at very reasonable prices. Our volunteers, who staff these bookstores, sort and price books, handle the checkout, help customers and shelve and organize books.
We offer free books to school librarians and teachers at our Puunene store and during special warehouse events.
