Who We Are
Since 2003, Makana O Ke Akua has provided clean and sober transitional living for men in recovery. The purposes for which this organization is formed are charitable and exclusively for relieving and reducing unemployment, homelessness, crime, and chemical dependency of Native Hawaiians and all peoples' of Hawai'i. While aiding the local government in its role for community improvement and fighting the war on drugs we shall operate to restore the family unity in substance abused and poverty-stricken households; to provide education, resource awareness, vocational and employment assistance and finally lessening recidivism of the non-violent criminal/addict.
What We Do
In coordination with Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA), and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA), MOKA manages operations at the Maui Relief Storage Facility, a coordinated donation management center to receive, sort and inventory donations collected for Maui residents impacted by the wildfires and store them until they are ready to be transported and received on Maui, and the Safeway Kahului Distribution Site where donations are provided to impacted Maui residents.
